Admissions Standards

To be considered for admission to the MIS, ISD, ISPM graduate program applicants must present a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and meet the minimum entrance requirements of the School of Business. Admission to the Master of Science in Information Systems Technology program is competitive. The review process considers each of the following areas on its own merit. Candidates should show significant achievement in each area to be considered a strong candidate for admission.

  1. The ability to excel academically in an environment that will demand strong technical, analytical and communication skills

This is primarily demonstrated by undergraduate academic achievement and related post-baccalaureate course work. Applicants who do not possess exemplary undergraduate academic preparation in information systems or related field MAY BE required to submit official results of the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Contact the program office for questions about this.

  2. Evidence of maturity to integrate educational opportunities into personal and professional goals

This is demonstrated by work experience, co-curricular experiences and most importantly by the "Statement of Purpose."

  3. Management and leadership potential and strong communication skills

This is demonstrated by work experience, co-curricular activities, Statement of Purpose and letters of recommendation.

  4. English language proficiency

Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores are required of all applicants who do not hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in an English-speaking country such as the United States, Canada, England, or Australia. To be considered for TOEFL exemption, the entire undergraduate degree must be taken in an English speaking country. A minimum TOEFL score of 100 on the internet-based exam, 250 on the computer exam, or 600 on the paper exam is required for admission to the program.
