MIS, ISD, ISPM Graduate Program FAQ

Professor and four students

Below are questions frequently asked by candidates of the MIS, ISD, ISPM graduate program.

How much does it cost?

The program costs vary by campus. Please call for information.

Do I have to meet the technical
prerequisites before applying?

No, technical prerequisites can be met once a student has applied and been accepted into the program. Workshops are offered for degree-seeking students to meet prerequisite requirements.

Is an IS degree necessary
to be admitted to the program?

No, students are admitted with diverse academic backgrounds and a variety of work and professional experience.

Can I send my application in pieces or
is it better to send everything together?

Students may submit materials together or as they are collected. However, applications are reviewed only once a complete application is submitted. Therefore, it does not benefit the student to submit their application piece-by-piece.

What are the application deadlines?

Starting in October of each year, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants are encouraged to submit completed applications as early as possible for evaluation. Candidates seeking financial assistance and international students requiring visas are encouraged to apply by April 1 for the fall semester, October 1 for the spring semester, and March 1 for the summer semester. The Virginia Campus, Ashburn conducts rolling admissions. Please call Kim McDevitt at 703-726-8330 for details.

Do I need a GRE or GMAT?

GRE and GMAT test scores are not required, but may be recommended if an applicant has a GPA lower than 3.0 or has an undergraduate degree in an unrelated field.

What will my diploma say?

Students graduate with a Master of Science in Information Systems Technology.
