About the Program
Students in the
MSIST
traditional evening-based
graduate program are
encouraged to choose from two fields of study,
Management Information Systems or Information Systems Development. All
tracks provide students with a strong foundation in information systems development, telecommunications and networks, database systems,
project
management, internet
computing, systems security,
information resource
management and the
integration of information systems. Each differs slightly in its
elective
emphasis on the technical or managerial aspects of information systems.

Course Load
The
MIS and ISD curricula comprise
33 credit hours of study,
plus 9 credits of
potentially waived
technical prerequisites.
Classes generally meet one day each week during convenient late afternoon and evening hours.
Full-time students take a minimum of three courses during the fall and spring semester and may opt to take an additional one to two courses during the summer. Most full-time students complete their graduate studies in one to two years, depending on the number of prerequisite courses needed.
Part-time students usually take three to six credit hours each semester, allowing them the flexibility to balance their academic workload with their professional responsibilities. Part-time students generally complete the program in two to three years, although a maximum of five years is allowed.

To apply for certification, submit the CIO University Certificate Application after completing all graduation requirements. Students graduating after the spring semester may apply during their final semester.
Students graduating during the summer
semester may apply during the Spring
Semester. The ceremony is
typically held during the summer.
