Congratulations! You are now a student in the M.S. in Information Systems Technology program offered by the Department of Information Systems and Technology Management of the School of Business at The George Washington University.

The GW MS-IST program offers you the opportunity to develop a strong foundation of current IS skills and to learn how to more effectively utilize information systems technology to solve the problems facing business and government organizations today and in the future. We encourage you to make the most of your academic experiences by challenging yourself to go beyond the faculty members' expectations. Graduate-level work is demanding, but we think you will find it rewarding both personally and professionally.

In addition to your course work, your faculty and fellow students represent an invaluable resource of practical field knowledge, international experiences, and industry-specific expertise. We encourage you to take the time to get to know your classmates, as they have the potential of becoming your strongest professional colleagues. The metropolitan DC/Northern Virginia technology community also represents a unique opportunity for you to become involved in special events, conferences, and social gatherings that can enhance your knowledge of the field.

  You can request your grade report (2) weeks after the semester ends and receive it at your "permanent address" in Banner in 5-10 business days. There is NO charge for this. You can either fax or drop the "Request for Grades to be Mailed" form at the Registrar's Office. (See the form for the fax number and office location.) It is critical that the information in Banner for the your permanent address is accurate.

Workshop Schedule and Registration Form

Workshops are held several times each year in programming, systems analysis, and database. Note that no workshop is available for the statistics prerequisite. Workshop schedules vary by campus. Please refer to the workshop schedule and registration form for full details.

Remember to check with your advisor before registering for a workshop.

Waiver Exams and Study Guides

All waiver exams must be taken prior to the end of your first semester of enrollment in the MS-IST program. You may take each exam only once. Results will be forwarded to you within five to seven days of taking the examination. Students who wish to take more than one waiver exam must attend more than one exam offering.

Each exam takes approximately one hour, during which no outside materials may be used. You may obtain a study guide by calling any of the locations below. There is no charge for taking a waiver exam.
