Workshops

Lecture hall at the Virginia Campus

Additional Information

About the Workshops

Workshops will be given at the Virginia Campus, Ashburn and at the Graduate Education Center, Arlington. No workshops are offered at the Main Campus.

Workshops will be offered several times per year in programming, systems analysis and database for students who require prerequisite training in these areas.

Each workshop will be held over two weekends: Friday 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Maximum workshop attendance is 20 students. Additional sessions will be added to meet demand. Workshops may be cancelled if fewer than five students sign up for a given session.

Following is a description and schedule for these workshops. (Please note: the statistics prerequisite may only be satisfied by registering for MGT 202 or a comparable statistics class; there is no corresponding workshop.)

Systems Analysis Workshop

This workshop fulfills the systems analysis prerequisite for the MIS field of study; students in the ISD and ISPM fields of study must have prior experience in systems analysis in order to take the workshop in lieu of the corresponding course.

Students will gain exposure to structured analysis and design methods. Topics of discussion will include techniques for developing data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and entity-relationship diagrams. Participants will receive hands-on exposure to the use of Windows-based CASE tools.
